G’day!
This “about page” will serve as a CV of sorts. It is an “about me”, so only read it if you are wanting more info on my background. For information that will be useful to you, please check out my main blog.
I was born in 1958 and was raised in Lithgow, NSW, Australia. I still live there, as it is within easy reach of all that Sydney offers, but far enough away to be out of the rat-race, and, hey, I like it here!
I am blessed with my wife Angie and two great kids, Tim and Angela.
I have an electrotechnology background, and 11 years in industry, switched to adult vocational teaching in 1987.
In 1995 I founded a company to bring Internet access to Lithgow. At first this was a hobby come community service venture, as an ISP at that time was not much more than a Bulletin Board Service (most of which back then were amateur operations). Most of it was email, FTP and newsgroups, and the World Wide Web was a novel new thing – mostly grey backgrounds with black text and blue links, a few pictures here and there! Broadband, multimedia etc and the like hadn’t been thought of!
As we all know, the Internet soon evolved in directions that no one could and predicted, and my little side-line soon became more of a Pandora’s Box, as costs soared and technology took off faster than a scared rabbit. The telecommunications corporations moved in in direct competition, creating a David (me) and Goliath (them) scenario, and I had to leave teaching in 1999 to take care of the business full-time.
Though very fulfilling at times, it was a more often a fact that I was a slave to it, as it was not at all planned and pretty much controlling me rather than I controlling it.
During the next few years I bought out my partner and reorganized the business, and implemented systems to the point where it was profitable enough to sustain several full-time staff.
However, in 2004 I had surgery on my hip, and to cut a long story short, complications from this saw me unable to continue working effectively. Though I tried to “push though”, with hindsight, I probably held on for two long. Eventually it took its toll and I sold the company in January, 2008.
For all of that, I am very proud of what I was able to achieve!
It’s ironic that I spent all those years getting others onto the ‘net, and helping them out, but in some ways I was the boat builder that got everyone else sailing off, but missed the boat himself!
So far, I have not been able to get my health issues sorted and fixed, and this has left me on a disability pension. Now, with two teenage kids, who both want to go to university, the income from a pension is simply not going to cut it, so I needed to find a way to earn a decent income, and that has lead me to Internet Marketing.
The Internet is “the great leveler” for entrepreneurs, and has great advantages over traditional business. Not the least of these is the ability to design and build a business tailor made to your own needs and situation like never before! Right up my alley!
My teaching and business experience are obvious assets…. I just have to learn the ins and outs of Internet Marketing, and for that I have a great coach in Alex Jeffreys.
As an experienced teacher, I can assess with some authority what Alex has been delivering in his coaching programme. Calling it “coaching” or “training” is really an injustice, because , by going into all the “behind the scenes” things that others leave out, he is really providing a thorough education (yes, there is a difference!). Thanks Alex, your blood’s worth bottling, mate!
Given the current uncertainty of traditional business, and the need for people to forge their way in the new economy of the internet, people need assistance to find their way.
Whilst Alex will not be running any more of these courses, but if you are not in this one, don’t fear, because there are others such as myself who will be taking up the reins.
It is a great opportunity to be able to prosper by helping others find prosperity!
I couldn’t wish for more than that!
So, once again, welcome aboard!
